Its distinctive red buds unfurl into vibrant pink-red flowers, gradually softening to a pale pink in the throat, adorned with a striking dark red blotch on the dorsal lobe.
Also known as Red Dawn, this rhododendron derives its name from its captivating display during the dawn of its flowering. Its parentage, a blend of degronianum ssp yakushimanum ‘Koichiro Wada’ and Spitfire, contributes to its unique characteristics and resilience.
Fun Fact: The name ‘Morgonrot’ originates from the Swedish language, translating to ‘Morning Red.’ This moniker perfectly encapsulates the breathtaking display of this rhododendron’s flowers as they emerge, evoking the vivid hues reminiscent of a radiant morning sunrise.
Flowering in October, the Morgonrot Rhododendron stands out not only for its striking appearance but also for its resilience. It boasts thrip resistance and exhibits sun tolerance, making it an ideal choice for various garden settings, ensuring a splendid display regardless of conditions.
Projected to reach a minimum height of around 1 meter after a decade of growth, this rhododendron combines beauty with adaptability, fitting seamlessly into landscapes big or small. Its alluring appearance and ability to thrive in diverse conditions make it a cherished addition to gardens.

How to plant
All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.
