Rhododendron pseudochrysanthum, commonly known as the false gold flower rhododendron, is an elegant evergreen species native to the mountainous regions of Taiwan, where it grows at high altitudes. In cultivation it forms a medium shrub approximately 1.5–2.5 metres in height and spread, with dense dark green foliage that provides year round structure in garden plantings.
In mid spring, R. pseudochrysanthum produces loose trusses of bell shaped flowers that range from pale pink to white, often with deeper pink spots or a subtle basal blotch that add extra interest to the blooms. The flowers are typically borne in small clusters and are appreciated for their gentle colouring and form.
This species prefers acidic, well drained soil with a sheltered position in partial shade or dappled light, where it can develop and flower reliably. It is hardy and adaptable, and forms a beautiful backdrop in woodland gardens, mixed borders, and shelter plantings.

We offer hand delivery within Christchurch. Outside of Christchurch, plants are sent via Post Haste and carefully packed in sturdy boxes, with up to four 6L plants fitting per carton, making it most economical to order in multiples of two or four.
