This wonderful plant is celebrated for its prolific, frilly-edged flowers that are a captivating pale pink. These exquisite blooms appear in midseason, specifically in November, forming beautiful trusses that add a touch of charm to any landscape.
Rhododendron ‘Mike Davis’ is a hybrid with parentage from an unnamed Yakushimanum hybrid and Lem’s Cameo, resulting in its unique and attractive features. The apricot-pink, flared flowers with some speckling are truly a sight to behold. In addition to its stunning blooms, the plant also boasts very good bronze new growth, providing year-round interest.
This broadleaf evergreen shrub reaches approximately 1.2 meters in height within 10 years, making it a perfect choice for a variety of garden settings. The green foliage remains attractive throughout the year, and the new copper-colored foliage adds a warm touch to the plant’s overall appearance.
Rhododendron ‘Mike Davis’ thrives in a sunny position with part shade, making it versatile for different garden layouts. It prefers well-drained, moist, and acidic soil, ensuring optimal growth and vibrant blooms. Regular watering is essential, especially during hot and dry periods, and mulching is beneficial to retain moisture and protect the roots. Fertilising with acid food from spring through autumn will keep this rhododendron healthy and flourishing.

How to plant
All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.
