Description
Rhododendron ‘Ibex’ is a reliable, compact evergreen rhododendron hybrid, widely regarded for its tidy growth habit, strong foliage, and consistent spring performance. Growing to approximately 1.2–1.4 m in height, it forms a dense, rounded shrub that suits smaller gardens, low hedging, or mass planting in borders where structure is important year-round.
In spring, ‘Ibex’ displays neat, rounded trusses of pale pink flower buds that open to soft white blooms, creating a fresh, elegant look that works beautifully alongside both bold and subtle garden colour schemes. The flowers sit well above the foliage, giving a clean, balanced appearance without overwhelming the plant’s compact form.
The foliage is dark green, thick, and resilient, contributing to its reputation as a tough and adaptable rhododendron. ‘Ibex’ is known to handle more sun exposure than many traditional varieties, provided it is planted in well-drained, acidic soil and mulched well to keep roots cool and evenly moist. This makes it a particularly good option for gardens that don’t offer full woodland shade.
Rhododendron ‘Ibex’ is ideal for gardeners looking for a low-maintenance, dependable rhododendron that delivers spring colour without excessive size. Its strong structure, sun tolerance, and compact habit make it a favourite for modern gardens and long-term landscape planting.

How to plant
All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.
