Description

Rhododendron Glenfalloch Blue is a truly unique and captivating variety, known for its vibrant blue flowers that set it apart from other blue rhododendrons. The luminous blue blooms appear early in the season, creating a spectacular display that always creates great interest. This hardy plant thrives in full sun, making it an excellent choice for sunny garden spots.

With a compact growth habit, Glenfalloch Blue forms a tight topiary ball, reaching a minimum height of 60 cm after ten years. The small leaves of this rhododendron take on a bronze hue during the winter, especially when exposed to frost. As soon as warmer weather arrives, the leaves turn back to green, adding dynamic seasonal interest to your garden.

The flowers, although small—about the size of your thumbnail—are strikingly beautiful and make a real statement with their electric blue color. This hardy rhododendron, an intricatim hybrid, is perfect for those looking to add a unique and vibrant touch to their landscape.

“The Glenfalloch Blue is a real stunner with its luminous blue flowers. I now need to dig up another area of grass to make more garden space so I can buy and plant more! I will certainly be telling everyone about your nursery. Keep up the good service and great plants! Many thanks, Dr. Katy Moore/Burton”

How to plant

All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.

Care information

Rhododendrons are rewarding and easy to grow once their basics are right — most issues come down to watering, drainage, or planting depth. Follow our planting guide for a great start, prune as needed, mulch annually to keep roots cool, and feed lightly in spring for a spectacular bloom later in the year.

Keep an eye out for common issues like powdery mildew or thrip, and address them promptly. We have plenty of information on caring for your rhododendron, and if you can’t find what you need, we’re always happy to talk all things Rhodos. Find a full overview in our General Care Guide (link below).
