A NZ Fan of Fragrantissimum shares his love of this rhodo…

" I grew up with one of these in front of the house, in Dunedin. It was old – about 2.4m high and 2.0m in diameter and growing in the open with lawn all around. It was soooooo pungent, that you could smell it 200m down the street, either way. Flowered early November. Never seemed to be hassled by the winter frosts and flowered prolifically in spite of being trimmed with hedge clippers every now and then. Big, white flowers it was quite magnificent and people used to stop and look at it as they walked passed. It was still there when I was last passed through Dunedin – still magnificent like a large, bright snowball – a very fragrant snowball."
