Description
Rhododendron Dicroanthum is an evergreen rhododendron admired for its waxy, tubular bell-shaped flowers in striking shades of red and orange with a delicate pink flush, which bloom in late November, adding vibrant colour to garden borders, woodland areas, and mixed shrub plantings. With a mature height of approximately 1 m, this compact shrub provides both evergreen structure and late-spring floral impact, making it ideal for smaller gardens, rockeries, or layered planting schemes.
This cultivar thrives in well-drained, acidic soil with partial shade to dappled sunlight, where the glossy foliage remains attractive year-round. Seeds from this plant are generally stable and true, allowing gardeners to propagate its stunning flower colour reliably.
Perfect for gardeners seeking a late-spring flowering rhododendron with bold red and orange tones and a compact habit, Dicroanthum delivers both visual impact and reliable growth. Order online from RhodoDirect today, or visit our nursery to see it in bloom and receive expert planting advice.

How to plant
All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.
