Description
Rhododendron ‘Gold Mohur’ is a distinctive and decorative rhododendron admired for its unusual bicoloured flowers and neat growth habit. Flowering in late October, it produces attractive trusses of golden-yellow blooms, each petal marked with soft pink banding on the outer surface, giving the flowers added depth and visual interest as the trusses open.
This cultivar forms a compact, well-shaped evergreen shrub, reaching approximately 1.5 metres in height at 10 years, making it well suited to smaller gardens, borders, and feature planting. The foliage is mid-green and provides a clean, structured backdrop that allows the spring flowers to stand out.
‘Gold Mohur’ performs best in free-draining, acidic soil enriched with organic matter and benefits from regular mulching to maintain consistent soil moisture. As with many yellow-flowering rhododendrons, it prefers dappled shade and shelter from strong sun in New Zealand conditions to preserve both flower colour and foliage quality. When grown in the right position, it is a reliable and rewarding plant for the spring garden.

How to plant
All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.
