Specifications
Description
Rhododendron Seattle Gold is admired for its warm golden-yellow flowers, which bring a softer, luminous tone to the spring garden. The blooms are carried in attractive trusses and contrast beautifully with the plant’s dark green evergreen foliage, creating a refined and elegant display.
This variety forms a well-balanced, medium-sized shrub, growing to an estimated 1.5 to 2 metres in height over time. Its steady growth habit makes it suitable for use as a feature shrub, woodland planting, or part of a mixed rhododendron border, where yellow-flowering varieties add light and depth to the planting scheme.
Seattle Gold thrives in acidic, free-draining soil enriched with organic matter and performs best in dappled shade or morning sun, protected from harsh afternoon heat and strong winds. Regular mulching helps conserve moisture and supports healthy root development, particularly during drier periods.
Well suited to New Zealand garden conditions, Rhododendron Seattle Gold offers dependable spring flowering and year-round structure.

How to plant
All our rhododendrons are grown in pots, so you can plant them anytime, though autumn is ideal for encouraging strong root growth. Find the right spot based on your chosen rhodo, improve the soil generously with organic matter, gently tease out the roots, and plant shallow at or just below the original soil level. Finally, mulch well and water thoroughly to help your plant establish.
